James Black demonstrated elements of Ledger Art he creates

The Friends of the Ferguson Home and the Plains Collective collaborated on the second Living Traditions series Dec. 4, 2025. This is a new Cheyenne-Arapaho initiative to showcase native-American Art, literature, dress, language, culinary customs and other aspects of Cheyenne-Arapaho and other plains Indians culture.

In this meeting, Albert Old Crow introduced William Bullcoming of Hammon who explained the details of the tribes emblem. Then James Black, a Watonga graduate, demonstrated his exquisite drawings on ledger paper. Drawing on ledger paper was common among detainees at Fort Marion, Florida and continues today. An exhibit of Fort Marion Ledger Art curated by Gordon Yellowman is showing at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in OKC https://nationalcowboymuseum.org/exhibitions/cheyenne-ledger-art/
